私が14歳の時に父親を失くし、
今年、同じ歳を迎えた我が娘。

A Song for My Child / Yoko Mizuki
I wrote this song with all my heart as a birthday gift for my beloved daughter, who recently turned 14.
When I was 14, I lost my father.
Now, my daughter has reached that same age.
As her mother, I asked myself—
What can I leave behind for her?
My answer was:
A song from me to her

No matter what hardships you may face,
I know you can go beyond the borders and overcome them.
Even if you’re lost in deep sorrow,
I’ll take your hand, and together we’ll let flowers bloom.
You were born to be happy—
So enjoy your life, no matter what. I’m always cheering for you.
This is a song from a mother to the child,
You are the bridge to the future.

“Even after I’m gone, I want you to be able to feel just how much I loved you.”
My original song for her is something she can carry into the future as a lasting gift.
So thankful to her beautiful smile, always.
